At Bodhi Mental Care & Wellness, our mission is to provide accessible neurofeedback training and meditation to youth living in marginalized communities. We are committed to breaking financial and systemic barriers by offering high-impact, science-based mental health tools to individuals aged 12 to 29—especially those waiting for care. Through culturally grounded programs and community-driven outreach, we aim to foster mental resilience, emotional balance, and lasting well-being for all.

OUR
VISION

To create a world where every young person—regardless of financial status or background—has access to the tools and support needed for mental wellness, emotional regulation, and empowered self-awareness.

Meet Our Founder

Morgan O. Smith

Executive Director, Bodhi Mental Care & Wellness
Founder of Yinnergy Technologies | Co-Founder of KeMor Centre for Innovative Development

Morgan O. Smith is a dedicated program facilitator, educational assistant, and provincial youth outreach worker whose journey into meditation and brainwave entrainment with youth began back in 2006. Recognizing the deep need for mental health support among young people, he devoted himself early to making contemplative practice approachable and meaningful to them.

By 2012, Morgan was working with many young performers who have since become respected artists in their own right. His early collaborations and mentorship included music artists like Dynesti, Tamir, Ikeeno, Deqwi, North English, Kwame Sky, Moreno Zulu (aka BIG), and Amethyst Amaris. He also supported the development of photographer TonyxTones, stand-up comedian Nathan Griffith, and spoken word artists including Ohm, Faduma Mohamed, Jungle Flower, Poettray, and Ontario’s first poet laureate, Randell Adjei.

Morgan’s innovative spirit truly flourished after he began formal neurofeedback training in 2018 to deepen his own meditation practice. Inspired by the possibilities of combining traditional contemplative techniques with modern technology, he founded mind@ease, a meditation program that fuses brainwave entrainment with hip hop, R&B, and trapsoul. His goal was clear: create something culturally relevant and engaging enough to genuinely attract younger people to meditation.

This vision found early success when he presented it to a principal in Toronto’s Malvern area, who approved a pilot for grade 7 and 8 students—a weekly session for six weeks. The pilot’s success led to the program expanding to two other schools. Sessions continued in person until early 2020, when the COVID-19 pandemic forced schools into lockdown. Instead of ending the work, Morgan and his team pivoted quickly to offer the program online.

During the pandemic, mind@ease reached over 800 students, not just in Malvern but across Scarborough, including communities like Jane & Finch. Alongside school programming, Morgan also began hosting a weekly global online meditation session to help people cope with the mental and emotional strain of COVID-19.

Building on this experience and his deepening knowledge, Morgan completed his training in integral theory with Sacred Media and Ken Wilber, as well as his training in neurofeedback. Armed with a vision for equitable, accessible mental wellness, he founded Bodhi Mental Care & Wellness. This organization is dedicated to making meditation and neurofeedback training more accessible to marginalized communities—addressing systemic barriers that too often prevent youth and families from accessing high-quality mental health support.

Over the years, Morgan has facilitated a wide range of meditation and wellness workshops for diverse communities, including:

  • Malvern Family Resource Centre (MFRC) events:

    • Covid-19 EAP Workshops

Morgan O. Smith’s work stands as testament to what’s possible when cultural sensitivity, technological innovation, and a profound commitment to community come together. For years he has watched young people he mentored rise to success in their fields, and he remains dedicated to ensuring the next generation has access to the tools, guidance, and safe spaces they need to thrive—on an even greater scale.
